Tales of Monkey Island
There are enough insider references to please the literary,
the dedicated gamers, the cultural snobs and the civic minded to give everyone that fun "ah-ha" moment.
Call it my predilection for neatness that I am so pleased when the CD comes out.
Here it is - the whole season, all five episodes, in one place instead of
various download files with spontaneously abbreviated titles.
Briefly, the klutzy but brave pirate Guybrush Threepwood, whose no plan comes together,
is still in pursuit of his arch-nemesis LeChuck, who has kidnapped his wife Elaine.
Guy's attempt to create a powerful cutlass with enchanted root beer, of course fails,
thereby making Guy go though increasingly complex contortions,
where each solution only leads to more impossible situations.
So what do we have here; a contagious pox that turns people into hooligans;
a search for Voodoo lady for the cure;
encounters with Morgan LeFay, the romantically-charged bounty hunter;
run-ins with de Singe, a diabolic mad scientist; and for good measure,
the trial and execution of Guybrush Threepwood. You want more?
The graphics are Monkey Island's unique style - inventive cartoon-like visual puns.
The strong color palettes complement each chapter. Music is varied and supports the plot. These guys are great.
