Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena - Review

Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena
Rating: E - Everyone

Who Is Samantha Swift? She is the young red-headed archeologist searching for artifacts for the Museum of Secrets Lost, and the main character in Mumbo Jumbo's Samantha Swift series. Her expeditions carry her from desert lands to tropical forests, from hidden tombs to treacherous passages with villains hot on her trail who would like to relieve her of her finds. The game has various puzzles but it's mostly seek-and-find with some objects cleverly being used as tools to find other objects. The characters are cartoony but the environments are especially well rendered. Mumbo Jumbo has gold down pat. The plot carries the game through many levels - hours of game play. In this game, Samanth is artifact hunting in a half hidden Greek temple complex. The elaborate halls are covered with lush vegetation, while beautiful statues and gold encrusted walls hide secret passages. When she finds the Scepter of Zeus, it is stolen from her, which leads to another mission - to a Mayan temple. I ran out of time.

If you're going to do searches - better to be searching for golden things. One of the more beautiful seek-and-find adventures. It’s a casual game, which means it comes with enough help and hints to keep you from pulling out your hair. The game can be downloaded from Mumbo Jumbo for a free trial; purchased outright for $19.99 or bought as a three-game pack from Wal-Mart and Best Buy for $19.99.

Fun Factor: Gorgeous locations
Female Factor: It's Samantha's show all the way
Player Friendly: Plenty of help but no walkthrough
